TOYO TIRES announces 150 Million JPY donation
TOYO TIRES Gives Relief Aid to the Communities in the Tohoku Pacific Coast Region of Japan Devastated by the Catastrophic Earthquake and Tsunami

Osaka, Japan - 18 March 18, 2011 - TOYO TIRE & RUBBER CO., LTD. ( President and CEO : Kenji Nakakura) expressed our deepest condolences to all of the families who have lost their loved ones or have otherwise suffered due to the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami which struck the Pacific Coast of the Tohoku Region in Japan on March 11, 2011. It is our hope that the region will be able to recover swiftly from this disaster.
To that end, Toyo Tires has announced its decision to donate 150 million Japanese yen (approximately $1.9 Million in U.S. dollars) to assist in the relief efforts following the calamity.
Toyo Tires Group has close and long-standing ties to the communities of both Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures, which have suffered devastating losses in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami. The Group has Toyo Tire & Rubber’s Sendai Factory (located in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture), Fukushima Rubber Co., Ltd., a manufacturing subsidiary (in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture), Iwaki Factory of the Soflan Wiz Co., Ltd., another manufacturing subsidiary (in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture), as well as a number of branches and sales offices of Toyo Tire Japan and Toyo Chemical / Industrial Products Sales Corporation, in the region.
Together with the surrounding communities, Toyo Tires Group’s manufacturing sites have also been adversely impacted by the earthquake and tsunami. However, we are making every effort toward an expeditious recovery. All of us at Toyo Tires Group hope that our financial contribution to these communities will assist the people of this region who have suffered alongside us in these difficult days, and help lay the foundation to rebuild the region.
Toyo Tire & Rubber is giving 100,000,000 Japanese Yen to the Miyagi Prefecture, and 50,000,000 Japanese Yen to the Fukushima Prefecture to aid in the relief and recovery.
