The “Top VW Show”, debuted this weeked with more than 150 vintage Volkswagens attending the new event at the San Martino del Lago Racetrack near Cremona.

Sponsored by Toyo Tires, the sun shone on the inaugural meeting which also included the10th Cruisin’ Rodeo, a show for US cars and motorcyles. Thousands attended to enjoy the many attractions the show held over the two days of the event. At the centre of the show, hundreds of Toyo caps and keycords were thrown out to the eager visitors.

Track driving sessions, a parade around the town, a concours d'elegance, special cars, a live show and childrens activities were all on the menu. Sunday saw a massive birthday party for "Herbie" the VW beetle from the films which celebrates it's 50th birthday this year. 

The evemings entertainment on saturday wasn't ignored with the organisers laying on a rock concert featuring the Sniperdogs.

Sunday morning wsaw the cutting of the cake and cocktails to celebrate the birthday of the 1963 “ragtop” known as Herbie, Numerous replicas of the beetle that conquered Hollywood were on show with each 'Herboe' owner receiving a unique certificate of attendance.

The organizers had difficult choice for the “Top 20” with an abundance of quality and variety on display in the attending vehicles. Many “modified” cars featured among the awards but for the “Best of Show” the jury chose Gianmario Tagliabue’s fantastic split bus, restored faithfully to its original VW build.

Event organiser, Giulio Bardelli thanked all the people who helpred to make this new show happen and promised that this is only the beginning. He plans to build the Top VW show to become the principal VW event in Italy. Already working on the 2014 edition, he pledged new ideas and partnerships to make the evnet bigger and stronger.
