The Team Toyo driver leads overall with two rounds remaining
Masato Kawabata fired his Nissan Silvia 180SX into first place in round three of the d1GP championship at Fukushima this weekend. With a strong showing in round four of the diouble header, the Team Toyo driver now leads the Championship overall and in the Tansu (solo) class.
Rounds three and four were held at the Ebisu Circuit. Round 3 on satuday was a walkover for Kawabata won won both the solo and the Tsuiso, two car battle to take first place. His mix of speed and agressiove drift angles gave hima clear victory with the judges.
Round 4 the following day was a tougher day for the driver who took second in the solo rounds only to place 5th in the
Kawabata is the number one driver for TEAM TOYO TIRES DRIFT with GP SPORTS. A former Championship winner in 2007, Kawabata has been winning on Toyo Tires since 2004. His 10th season.
With just two rounds remaining in the championship, Kawabata is in a strong position. September 14 sees the 5th and penultimate round in Nagasaki. The Championship Finale is 0n November 9 at Odaiba, Tokyo.
