Latest information on the restart of production

 

The Recovery Forecast of TOYO TIRES following the 2011 Tohoku Pacific Coast Earthquake

 

Osaka, Japan – 18 March 2011 - TOYO TIRE & RUBBER CO., LTD. (President and CEO: Kenji Nakakura) would like to express our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones as a result of the 2011 off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake Disaster on March 11, 2011, and we hope the area will see a swift recovery.
Sendai factory, manufacturing automobile tire located in Tohoku area, has suspended to produce since 11 Mar. 2011 due to power outage. The Company announced that Sendai factory will be restarted as follows,
The guidelines about the production recovery
1) Sendai factory has begun its test operation since 18 March 2011, because of some power and steam has been recovered.
2) Sendai factory will resume partial production activity in next week.
3) Regarding tire production quantity, the number of tire will be limited for the time being. Because factory in Sendai has faced the shortage of oil, raw materials and so on and became truck transportation system in Japan has been troubled due to lack of fuel, many roads has blocked by this disaster, the Company will increase production quantity in accordance with such an infrastructure improvement.
