2nd place at the 4h race on 22.10.2022 in the NLS
25 Oct 2022
On Saturday, the 22nd of October, the second last race for this year of the Toyo Tires racing team powered by Ring Racing took place.
The 4h race started at 12pm and finished at 4pm. In total two Toyota Supra GT4 competed for us in the class SP10. The Supra with the number 170 was driven by Andreas Gülden, Michael Tischner and Heiko Tönges, the other Supra with the number 180 was driven by the Japanese guest driver Takayuki Kinoshita and the Ring Racing team leader Uwe Kleen. Since the test day on Friday the 21.10.2022 was rainy and the road in the early morning of the 22nd of October still wet, the qualifying was driven with rain tires. Due to a mistake in the choice of tires the no. 170 couldn’t defend the pole position in the class SP10 and had to start from the second position, while no. 180 started from the sixth starting position.
Because of an early pit stop for repairs, the Supra no. 170 lost 15 minutes, whereas the other Supra was successful. After that incident, the drivers could make up a few places up to the overall rank 47 of 96 competitors. The second Supra no. 180 was more successful. After a good start and a race without further incidents, Takayuki Kinoshita, who already won the SP8 class at the 24h race at the Nürburgring in the past and Uwe Kleen were able to catch up a few positions and finished the race at overall rank 25 and second place in class SP10.
In summary, Toyo Tires secured the fourth podium of the season in the SP10 class with Ring Racing.
