FLEX SHOW AIKAWA Racing with TOYO will participate in the Asia Cross Country Rally
FLEX SHOW AIKAWA Racing with TOYO will participate in the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR). The team, directed by Sho Aikawa, has been sponsored by Toyo Tires since 2018. Racing a Toyota Land Cruiser 150 Prado, equipped with Open Country tires, the team are aiming for a class win in this year’s race. The car will be driven by D1GP racer Masato Kawabata who is also an experienced rally driver. Kawabata took class wins at last year’s XCR Sprint Cup and Rally Hokkaido. In 2019, on his first entry in the AXCR, he finshed 2nd placed.
Starting Sunday, August 11, the AXCR will feature 6 timed stages of over 1.000km across Thailand and Malaysia. The race, held since 1996, is an FIA certified Cross-country rally.
This year marks the 29th time the event has been held. Starting from Surat Thani, facing the Gulf of Thailand, the course takes the competitors south and into Malaysia. The race concludes in Kuala Lumpur having travelled a total distance of around 2,000km. The challenges this year will be harsh with mountains and dense forests to navigate requiring excellent mobility, durability, and speed.
Toyo Tires utilises the data and knowledge gained through rally raids in the development of future high-quality, high-performance products. The development contributes to Toyo Tires policy of “realising a sustainable mobility life.”
