18 Nov 2024
Toyo Tires racer, Gustavo Vildosola Sr, won the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend class in last weekend's Baja 1000. The 71 year finished third overall, to take his #1L Ford Raptor to the top of the Legends Class.
His son, and fellow Toyo Tires competitor, 'Tavo' Vildosola, finished second overall just 5:51.355 behind Luke McMillin after 16 hours of racing across the deserts, beaches, and mountains of Baja California. His #21 Ford Raptor averaged 53.98mph for the race with tires, Open Country M/T , performing flawlessly.
Alan Ampudia was 4th overall and third in class in his #10 Ford Raptor Trophy Truck, also on Open Country M/T R tires.
Red hot favourite, having qualified in P1, Bryce Menzie was to experience mechanical trouble at just 28 miles. The steering suffered an issue and the team could not get a support truck in until most of the race had passed. Unfortunately this forced the team into the hard decision to retire for safety reasons and they ended with a DNF for ther 2024 race.
Toyo Tires applies the knowledge gained from extreme off-road racing to inform the development process of it's 4x4, SUV and Pickup tires.
