EV Racing Enter the 2013 Dakar
14 Dec 2012
Late Entry after Morocco win
Toyo Tire Europe GmbH. Willich, Germany – Eric Vigouroux and co-pilot Jean Brucy will contest the upcoming Dakar Rally in a brand new Toyo Tires equipped Chevrolet prototype truck.
The announcement comes on the back of two wins from two Rally Raids in 2012, including the recent Rally of Morocco. With their 2 wheel drive truck leading home all the 4 wheel drive cars of the factory teams, EV Racing made the decision to enter the 2013 Dakar.
Starting January 5 in Peru, the Dakar visits three countries with the cars travelling 8.574km before crossing the finishing line in Chile on January 20. The epic race is famed for its physical and emotional challenges. This year’s event will be no different with competitors immediately facing unforgiving sand dunes in Peru and later, a new three-day desert sequence, which will test the team’s endurance.
Toyo Tires 37x13.5 R17 Open Country M/TR tires will once again be severely tested. With thousands of kilometres of successful racing, the tires are proven winners and EV Racing retain this vital component on their new truck.
The Dakar also sees the return of serial Off-Road race winner Robby Gordon in his HUMMER. Having recently completed winning the 2012 Best in The Desert Championship, Gordon and co-driver Kellon Walsh will be fierce competitors in the 2013 Dakar.
Also running on Toyo Tires Open Country M/TR will be 2011 Dakar winner Nasser Al-Attiyah and 2010 Dakar winner Carlos Sainz in their all new 2 wheel drive buggies.
