Stage three win puts team in first place overall

The story of the race so far for EV Racing has been counting down to victory with third on stage one, followed by second on stage two before today's victory put them in the overall lead of the rally.

Eric began the stage hard on the gas catching up to overall leader Holowczyc in his Mini and sitting in his rear view mirror applying pressure. Following, however, is never on Eric's agenda and a change of strategy saw the Trophy truck drop off the back of Holowczyc's mini to take a different track.

Seeing Vigouroux side by side on a parallel course caused the Mini driver to push on too hard and ultimately this cost him as a puncture took him out of contention for the stage win. No such problems for Vigouroux whose 37x13.5 R17, Open Country M/TR tires performed flawlessly, shrugging off the rocks to power to a commanding victory, 8 minutes, 14 seconds ahead of stage 1 winner Spinelli in his Mitsubishi.

Today's stage was a bumpy 291 km of special where the trophy truck seemed to fly from obstacle to obstacle barely allowing the team to marvel at the scenery as they raced across epic craters.

Stage four tomorrow is mainly sand and a highly technical course which benefits the four wheel drive cars. With only two wheel drive, the EV Racing Trophy Truck will have to press hard to overcome this disadvantage.
