N 24h Race Test for new race slicks

The latest evolution in the ongoing race tire development will be tested at the Nürburgring 24H
Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Kenji Nakakura) announces that the latest product evolution of its race tire development programme will be tested at the Nürburgring 24h race.
Working with Lammertink Racing, TOYO TIRES have been developing slick and wet tires over the last year and following successful tests in private, the latest spec race tires will now be tested in race conditions. With 24 hours of racing, TOYO TIRES engineers hope to obtain enough data on the tires to allow them to fine tune the performance before further private tests are held.
Lammertink Racing with TOYO TIRES are a professional race team led by WTCC, F3 and GT driver, Tom Coronel. The car, a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car will be fitted with 245/640R18 front and 285/680R18 rear Proxes RS1 (Slick) or Proxes RR1 (Wet) tires.
Nürburgring 24h is the biggest endurance race in the World with entries open to both professional and amateur competitors. Commencing at 15.00 on May 15, over 200 teams will take the start. Lammertink Racing, wearing race number 46 will be competing against 15 other cars in their SP 7 class. Even though the tires are still in development, Lammertink will be aiming for a high placed finish within their class 24hrs later when the race concludes at 15.00 on Sunday, May 16.
TOYO TIRES will be aiming to develop the tires further after the 24H Nürburgring ready to make a second race condition test at the 12h Hungary race in October this year.
Driver Line Up
Tom Coronel
Lead driver, Tom Coronel is an experienced development driver and racer. Career highlights include winning the Japanese Formula 3 and Formula Nippon championships. He has also raced successfully in Super GT and currently competes in both the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) and Le Mans 1000km Series.
Duncam Huisman
Duncan Huisman has a wealth of experience in ETCC,WTCC and Dutch Touring Car races. A former Nürburgring race winner in 2005, Duncan has participated in many other high profile endurance races including the Macau Grand Prix and Daytona.
Yasushi Kikuchi
Yasushi Kikuchi has extensive experience in Super GT and the Super Taikyu (endurance) series in Japan. In 2010, he will continue to participate in both Super GT and Super Taikyu. A regular competitor in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Yasushi is also an accomplished technical journalist.
