Podium finish for NLS championship
18 Nov 2024
Team Toyo Tires with Ring Racing rounded out the 2024 Nürburgring Lanngstrecken-Serie (NLS) with a podium finish in the 6th and final round of the champiomnship. The round, known as the ADAC Barbarossapreis, saw the #171 car, driven by Toyo Tires Japanese Brand Ambassador Takayuki Kinoshita, along with Tim Sandtler and Heiko Tönges, finish on the second step of the podium just 2:58.37 behind the Aston Martin of Dörr Motorsport.
The Toyota Supra GT4 car completed 26 laps of the challenging Nürburgring Nordschleife course, matching the winner, at an average speed of 153,17km/h over the four hour race. The car races on Toyo Tires Nürburgring spec slick tires which are made with a high share of sustainable materials. Sustainabilty is a core target for Toyo Tires development engineers along with the race perfomances necessary for the team to win.
Team Toyo Tires with Ring Racing had already secured the 2024 SP10 class overall championship at the previous round. However, developemnt of the slick tire continues and the weekend saw the team add considerably to the data for the engineers to tune the tires further for 2025.
Commenting on the impressive year for Toyo Tires with Ring Racing, Michael Rignall, Senior Marketing Manager, added, "We have spent the year congratulating the team as they took numerous podiums and the class title for the year. The Proxes tires fitted to the race cars have been evolved following each race to make marginal gains as our knowlege of tire behaviour increases. These advances, taken cumulatively, will be used to improve Proxes tires throughout the range. By successfully challenging 'The green hell', the team have helped Toyo Tires to make driving safer as well as more exciting."
Next year the team will return to defend their NLS crown with ambitious plans, both in terms of the racing and development of the tires. Everything learned from extreme competion is transferrd into the development process for ultra high performance Proxes road tires.
