Open Country aiming to take the Baja 1000

Toyo Tires will support two teams, Bryce Menzies and Team JAOS in the 2023 Baja 1000 which will be contested from November 16 to 18. Toyo Tires will supply the  Open Country series of pickup truck/SUV tires to the teams.

The final round of the SCORE World Desert Championship, is the SCORE BAJA 1000, one of the world's most competitive races, running approximately 1,300 miles (approximately 2,090km) from La Paz on the Baja California Peninsula to Ensenada. Truck start for the tough off-road race commences at 9.00AM MST (CET -8hrs) on Thursday 16. Drivers will be relying on their tires to navigate the rough surfaces at speed with superb durability to make the most of the driver’s skill piloting the course. The Open Country series tires that will be supplied for this, the 56th edition of the Baja 1000, have been developed based on experience gained through participating in off-road races around the world. It has contributed to numerous victories through it’s ability to grip on rough surfaces and durability against impacts while driving.

This time, the Toyo Tires team will be led by Bryce Menzies, who has won this year's Baja 500 and Baja 400, and Alan Ampudia, who won the Baja 1000 in 2019. The team will use the `Open Country M/TR', a tuned version of the Open Country M/T', on the team's vehicle.

Team JAOS meanwhile will equip their car with Open Country R/T'. Team JAOS is operated by Jaos Co., Ltd., a comprehensive SUV and 4WD parts manufacturer with which Toyo Tires have a strategic partnership. Toyo Tires aim to win this year's championship together with our supported teams including Bryce Menzies, who currently tops the World Desert Championship rankings.
