Toyo Tires brand ambassador, Michael Whiddett, known as Mad Mike, will contest the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in his Mazda 3. The race, high in the Colorado Rockly mountains, takes place on June 25.

Mad Mike, will contest the exhibition class of the race in his Maza 3 "Bullet" car, using Toyo Tires ultra-high-performance "Proxes" tires. The exhibition class was created for prototypes built In the spirit of the race, "promoting and demonstrating the practical application of motor sports technology and autoimotive engineering." In this years edition, MAZDA SPIRIT RACING, Red Bull, TCP MAGIC, and Mad Mike, will team up with Toyo Tires, aiming to win the class.
Pikes Peak soars over the southern front range of the Rocky mountains at 4.301m. Every year, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, known as the 'Race to the Clouds', takes place on its fearsome slopes. Over a total course length just under 20km, the competitors climb 1,400meters through 156 corners to reach its summit.
Proxes Slick tires were developed to adapt to the changes in air pressure due to altitude differences and weather conditions at high altitude. The race tire is engineered to handle the harsh environment and variable road surfaces Mike will encounter on Pikes Peak. Whiddett had a chance to test the tires on Sunday, June 4, when he took part in the official test run prior to the main race. Using the Proxes slick tires on his Mazda 3, Mike qualified in 1st place in the exhibition class ensuring he will start the race full of confidence.
