SCORE Baja 500 is the second round of the SCORE World Desert Championship. Having tasted success at the 1st round, the SCORE San Felipe 250, Toyo Tires will be aiming to equal that success in the second round.
The Baja 500 is a historic race being held for the 56th time this year, and is one of the toughest off-road races in the world. Competitors depart from Ensenada, on Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, and drive at speed over approximately 480 miles (770 km) through rugged desert and rocky mountain areas. To overcome unstable road surfaces, tires are a vital component, requiring high performance levels on rough roads as well as durability.
Toyo Tires will be supplying the Open Country M/TR, a race-tuned version of the 4x4 and off-road Open Country M/T, which is highly rated in the North American market. This product and other Open Country series tires, benefit from the experience accumulated in off-road races around the world in product development to enrich the performance. With numerous victories in the SCORE World Desert Championship, the improved traction performance tread, braking, and ability to manage rough roads, combine with structural strength giving high damage resistance, to demonstrate the tire’s capabilities.
