Third Round of DVV Cyclocross Trofee in Hamme

3rd round - DVV Trofee

On November 26th, the third round of the DVV Verzekeringen Trofee took place in Hamme. Toyo Tires is a partner of this UCI authorised Cyclocross championship which attracts world class riders. Over 15.000 spectators watched the event including a number of specially invited VIPs.

For this race, the course was extended by the addition of the "Toyo Tires Trap", a new obstacle formed from Toyo tires on a slope making a difficult obstacle for the riders to overcome.

Riders tackle the Toyo Tire Trap

On a muddy, twisty and sloping terrain, Mathieuw van der Poel was the man-to-beat in the elite mens competition. The Dutch rider took an early lead and fought hard for victory against World Champion, Wout Van Aert. Belgian rider, Michael Vanthourenhout was third just 14 seconds behind the World Champion. At the end of the Flandrien Cross race in Hamme, van der Poel leads the World Champion, van Aert in the overall standing in the championship. 

In the elite womens race, Belgian rider Sanne Cant came out on top  on Sunday but not without a serious challenge from American rider, Ellen Noble who finished second by just six seconds. Katie Compton, just one second down on her fellow countrywoman Noble, could only finished third on the day but retains her overall lead in the championship.

The next race of the DVV Verzekeringen Trofee takes place on December 9th in Essen, Belgium.
