12 Sep 2022
Toyota Supra GT4 1st in class
On September 10 and 11, the sixth edition of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie took place. The race, also known as the 12H Nürburgring was divided over two days for the first time with 6 hours of racing each on Saturday and Sunday.
At the end of the first race day, the Toyo Tires Supra driven by Michael Tischner, Andreas Guelden and Heiko Toenges finished 32nd overall and 2nd in class SP10. The gap to the leading Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in their class was about one minute at that time.
Part two of the race started at 10 am on September 11. Shortly after the start the leading vehicle in class SP10 changed from the Aston Martin to a Mercedes-AMG GT4. The Toyo Tires drivers were able to defend against the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and remain on the second position. After that, the leading car changed several times because of different pit stop strategies. In the penultimate lap our Toyota Supra was still in 2nd position in the class. Following an accident by the leading Mercedes-AMG GT4, Toyo Tires driver Andreas Guelden was able to take the lead and crossed the finish line as the class winner.
Celebrating their class win, Toyo Tires thank the team from Ring racing for their excellent car preparation and race strategy. The drivers, who completed 12 hours and 72 flawless laps, demonstarted that success is always possible when you never give up.
